The ocean calls me
at the mention of you
she wants me to submerge myself
sink beneath her tide
Images of violence
thrashing,
silently gagging and retching
as I wish
for you to save me
take me somewhere
where peace knows no pain
Instead, I drown
on my words
and choke on tears
you hold me while I fall
through fits of paranoia
and venom
we stop it from infecting us
wash it away
enchanted amongst auburn kisses
as we lose ourselves beneath blankets
playful and light
evolving into a fire
burning with love, promise and passion
You wake me up
when I’m breathing again
sodden and dripping
you let me know
that the fog has lifted.
