Every quarter, following the publication of each new Issue, Seaside Gothic opens for submissions for fiction, poetry, nonfiction, and visual collections. These submissions are unsolicited and there are no submission fees. From these open submissions, the content of future Issues is selected, and upon publication Seaside Gothic pays. A complimentary copy of the magazine and a hand-typed signed note from the Editor are also shipped to each contributor.
Since launching, Seaside Gothic has aimed to be transparent regarding its processes. Staff are listed on the Impressum, the Editorial Policy is publicly available, and full submission guidelines can be found online. At the initial announcement of Seaside Gothic, before Issue 1 was published, the magazine’s manifesto was released.
To continue in this vein, Seaside Gothic will now be releasing statistics for each submission window. These will be published ahead of the following submission window to offer insight into acceptance rates for fiction, poetry, nonfiction, and visual submissions. These statistics are exclusively available to subscribers, which includes all contributors to Seaside Gothic, as upon publication a lifetime digital subscription is gifted.
