Seaside Gothic Issue 11 will be edited by Emily Fletcher, a writer with a background in fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. She joined Seaside Gothic as an Editorial Assistant for Issue 9 and became more involved with the editing process for Issue 10.
Emily Fletcher holds an undergraduate degree in English Language and Literature and is currently completing an MA in Literature. Her degree investigated how mental health is represented in art, particularly film, with a focus on point-of-view. Her Master’s Degree explores literature through an ecocritical lens and is ongoing.
The shushing of the stones and pebbles caught in the push and pull of the tide is the soundtrack to my days wandering the coast. The horizon is so far out only a dark blue line separates the sea from the sky.
Emily Fletcher, I Write Letters to the Sea
The writing Emily Fletcher enjoys tends to be narrative-driven, which allows the interrogation of differing perspectives. She favours a strong narrative structure, allowing topics and themes to be approached in ways which makes her think and connect with the world in different ways. The introduction of interesting characters helps, too, in navigating treacherous waters.
