My love has turned the green
Of sea foam
I pummel my fists against her back
But all I garner
Are mouthfuls of minnows
Choking down her chin
My love has stained the blue
Of dreams
I lay her down in our bed
Vein-forked hands crossed over
A swollen stomach
Water a frigid silhouette upon sheets
When my love is found in the morning
She’ll be wreathed in wildflowers
And pearlescent shells
The ocean having come overnight
To pay her penance
And respects
